Please
note: 2nd Quarter 2 ends on January 25, 2008.
Welcome back!
I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday break. Have you made any New Year resolutions? Mine is to eat healthier, but I’ll most
likely break it as soon as my wife decides to bake cookies.
I am happy to report that the month of December
went very well considering Mother Nature’s lack of cooperation. Our Winter Carnival went off without a
hitch. The students were great and
seemed to enjoy themselves throughout the festivities. (In case you didn’t
hear, the Junior class won.) Mrs. Kelliher and the members of Student Council did a wonderful
job organizing Winter Carnival, and the faculty did a terrific job supervising
and facilitating the events. “Doc”
McGrew let his (inner game show host) personality shine as he emceed one of the
most exciting games of musical chairs that I’ve ever seen. It was also amusing to see Ms. Gilles and
Mrs. Caruso lead the students in a 250-person synchronized dance to “Cotton Eyed
Joe.” My favorite moment, however, was
watching math teacher, Chris MacStravic, go
undefeated in Dance-Dance Revolution! The
student and faculty participation was awesome.
It was so much fun to watch everyone interact with each other on such a
positive note, and a great way to begin our holiday break.
As we prepare for the month of January, there are a
few important schedule changes to make note of.
First, due to a school cancellation on December 20th, the
PMHS Winter Concert was rescheduled to January 10th at 6:30pm. Please join us for an evening of
entertainment courtesy of the PMHS music department. Most important, our mid-year exam schedule has changed from what is listed in the
Student-Parent Handbook. Please make
note of the following changes:
l Monday, January 21st,
Martin Luther King Day.
l Tuesday, January 22nd,
regular school day.
l Wednesday, January 23rd,
early release at 2:20pm.
l Thursday, January 24th,
early release at 1:00pm.
l Friday, January 25th,
early release at 1:00pm.
Please refer to the chart below to see particular
exam dates and times as we’ve changed the exam schedule. To anticipate a few of your questions:
-
Your child does not have to come to school if he or
she does not have a scheduled exam.
-
With written (not verbal) permission from a
parent/guardian, your child may leave school after he or she has completed his
or her exams. (This does not include
leaving the classroom before the end of the allotted exam time. This only applies to those students who do
not have a second session exam.)
-
We will provide an area for students to study
during times in which they do not have exams.
-
If your child arrives late to his or her exam, he/she
will not be allowed in the room and will have to take the exam during the
designated make-up time.
-
We will be serving lunch as indicated on the
schedule.
-
The morning busses will run on a normal day
schedule Tuesday through Friday.
If you have other questions about the new schedule
or particular exam dates/times, please call the school at 875-3800 or check out
the PMHS Website at: www.pmhschool.com
for further clarification.
By the way, I just want to let you know that 50
students were given cookies during Winter Carnival because they could tell me
the PMHS Mission Statement. Thank you
for your continued support in helping us with integrating our
