Please
note: 3rdd Quarter ends on April 11, 2008.
Report
cards for Quarter 3 will be issued on April 15, 2008.
Have you ever tried playing tennis or high jumping
in two feet of snow? Our spring sports
teams may not have a choice if some of this snow doesn’t soon disappear. We’re not alone though. Most of the Lakes Region schools are in a
similar situation with their fields and tracks not being accessible. Hopefully, we’ve seen the last snowfall of
the season and the melting process will go more smoothly than last year. And although March Madness has come to an
end, the April madness is just beginning.
I’ve been receiving a lot of calls and getting a lot of emails inquiring
about a graduation date. I keep telling
everyone that graduation will happen
in June, I just don’t know exactly when.
Hopefully, within the next week or so, the School Board and I will
solidify a date. In talking with the
senior class, many of them expressed interest in holding graduation outdoors on
a Friday night. Let’s hope that Mother
Nature cooperates.
On the sports front, the PMHS Boys Basketball Team
and the Spirit Squad both participated in post-season play. The Boys’ Team made it to the State Class-M
Final-Four while the Spirit Squad participated in the New England
Championships. Our Indoor Track Team
also had a terrific winter season as many new school and individual records
were set. (See below for more
details.) Overall, our boys’ team placed
2nd among Class M schools while our girls’ team placed 1st. It was very exciting to watch and hear how
well our teams did this winter. We’re
all very proud of their accomplishments and hope that our spring athletes
continue to find success this upcoming season.
There were several other successful events during
the month of March. For instance, our
F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Team competed at the annual BAE Systems National
Competition in
As I referenced in last month’s newsletter, we had
to reschedule several of our March events due to uncooperative weather; two of
those events being our Academic Night and Spring Concert. As mentioned above we have decided to combine
the two festivities into one fantastic evening on Thursday, April 10th. Beginning at 6:00pm, our Music Department
will show off their talents inside the auditorium as the PMHS Choruses and Band
will perform for about an hour. Once
that is finished, I’ll ask that you take the opportunity to walk around the
school and visit the different areas where faculty and students will have their
work on display. It will be a good
opportunity for you to talk and mingle with our faculty and staff and see what
your children have been working on this year.
I hope you will join us for the evening as it means a lot to students
when you take an interest in what’s going on at school.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or
concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I can be reached at 875-8800 or at jfitzpatrick@pmhschool.com and don’t
forget to check out the school’s Website at www.pmhschool.com for other
important dates and notices.
